INTERIOR DESIGN FOR LUXURY RESIDENTIAL AND BOUTIQUE COMMERCIAL SPACES
We purposefully integrate architectural elements with interior details to create luxurious interior environments that are rooted in modernism, all while maintaining our focus on the connection between person & place
PROCESS
Every NATIVin project is guided by a clear, three-phase framework — Discovery, Design, and Implementation.
We begin by understanding how you live and how your space should function. We then translate that insight into proportion-driven plans, material clarity, and thoughtfully curated selections. When engaged for full service, we manage execution with precision — guiding the project from concept to completion so the final environment reflects the integrity of the original design.
Our process is structured by design, allowing each decision to build upon the last and resulting in spaces that feel cohesive, enduring, and deeply considered.
DISCOVERY
Our process begins with a brief introductory call. During this conversation we discuss your goals, project type, location, and timeline. This helps determine whether NATIVin is the right fit for your project and allows us to prepare for the on-site consultation. Book your complementary discovery call by filling out the project inquiry form on the contact page.
You can book an on-site consultation during or after the discovery call.
The Discovery phase begins with a two-hour consultation in your home. During this visit we walk through the space together, discuss functional needs, lifestyle patterns, and the goals for your project. This conversation helps us understand not only what you want to change, but why those changes matter.
We get to know each other, learning more about your taste and preferences, and reviewing the overall scope of your project so we can estimate the resource requirements and the timeline.
Following the consultation, we review the information gathered during the visit and prepare a tailored project proposal outlining the recommended scope of design services and next steps.
A consultation fee applies and is confirmed during the discovery call. After the consultation, we evaluate the scope of work the project may require. Some spaces call for surface updates, while others involve architectural detailing, millwork, or construction coordination.
During this step we establish a realistic investment orientation based on scope and market conditions so that expectations are aligned before design begins.
Using the insights gathered during consultation, we outline the anticipated project phases and level of engagement required to bring the design to life.
This will be the Scope of Work document.
You receive a written proposal detailing the scope of work, related design services and design fees. Once approved, the project moves into the Design phase where concepts and plans begin to take shape.
DESIGN
The design phase begins with documenting the existing space and coordinating with the contractor. A site visit is conducted to gather measurements and create accurate base drawings and a digital model of the space.
An early coordination meeting with the contractor allows us to discuss construction considerations and ensure alignment before design development begins.
This step establishes the structural foundation for the design process.
Once the project parameters are confirmed, we establish the conceptual foundation for the design. This presentation introduces the overall design direction informed by NATIVin’s modernist approach and the client’s design archetype.
This stage may include:
• concept boards
• material direction
• spatial intent
The goal is to confirm the design direction before spatial modeling begins.
With the design direction established, the concept is translated into spatial form.
At this stage, we explore how the space functions through layout, proportion, and circulation. Two distinct spatial design strategies are developed to evaluate different ways the space could be organized.
This presentation may include:
• a three-dimensional model of the space
• two spatial layout strategies
• furniture placement and circulation studies
Once a preferred direction is selected, the design is refined through several iterations to optimize proportions, layout, and functionality before detailed selections are introduced.
Once the spatial framework is confirmed, the design is developed through layered selections of furnishings, finishes, and lighting concepts.
This presentation introduces the elements that will shape the atmosphere and material character of the space.
This stage may include:
• conceptual furniture selections
• finish direction and materials
• lighting concepts
• updated 3D model
• physical sample board
Following client feedback, selections are refined and finalized before technical drawings are prepared.
Once the design direction and selections are confirmed, scaled design drawings are prepared to clearly communicate the design intent to the contractor and trades.
These drawings help translate the design into buildable instructions while maintaining the integrity of the design vision.
These may include:
• scaled floor plans
• interior elevations
• millwork drawings & key detail drawings
• lighting plans
The completed design package is then reviewed with both client and contractor to confirm alignment before the project moves into implementation.
IMPLEMENT
Before we begin placing orders for your project, we give you another proposal. This proposal has two parts:
-
How long the ordering and implementation will take and our fee for that work.
-
We also include your project budget in this proposal. You pay a full deposit based on this budget, which is applied towards the purchases. If there is change in selections or pricing, and additional funds are needed, we inform you and collect the funds. If there is balance left over, we refund that amount to you during project closure. We require that our clients sign off on this proposal before we start implementation.
-
We collaborate with your General Contractor, Architect, Engineer and other trades to ensure open communication. If you don’t have a GC we connect you to the right tradespeople and coordinate with them.
We check in throughout the project by visiting the site to ensure everything is coming together as intended and to answer any questions.
We begin placing orders. This is when we get a more clear picture of lead times for each item. We keep you informed during the entire process so there are no surprises.
Some clients like to see furniture as it comes in, and for that, we can have it shipped directly to the project site. Someone will need to be present to inspect for damages and accept delivery.
Others like the idea of a big reveal. We can arrange that by storing all your deliveries in a warehouse and then setting up everything on install day/s. When all construction is complete, we coordinate with our team to get everything moved in, set up, and ready for you. It’s a day or two of preparing your home for the big reveal.
Two weeks after install we check in with you to see if there are any issues or final changes to be made.
We reconcile all accounts and provide you with a project binder.
